우리들 이야기

김기동 목사님은 [고구마 전도]라는 것을 한국 교회에 소개했습니다. 그 때 이분이 알려준 전도의 말 중에 ‘그래도 예수님 믿어야 합니다.’ 라는 것이 있습니다.  예수님을 믿지 않는 분들에게 예수님을 믿으라고 하거나 교회에 오라고 하면, 예수님을 믿지 않는 여러가지 이유를 말합니다. 그런 이유들에 대한 답으로 ‘그래도 예수님 믿어야 합니다.’라고 말해 주라는 것입니다.  예수님을 믿지 못하겠다는 분들의 이유들을 보면, 첫째, 성경의 가르침이 다 이해가 되지 않기 때문이라고 합니다. 성경은 좋은 교훈과 사람 사는 이야기도 있지만 초자연적인 기적이나 치유나 영적 세계도 이야기 하기 때문에 당연히 3차원의 세계만을 이해하는 사람들은 다 알수 없습니다. 4차원 이상의 영적 세계가 이해가 안 되어도 예수님을 믿어야 합니다. 둘째, 교회에 다니는 사람들의 행실을 보니 실망이 되어 예수님을 믿지 못하겠다고 합니다. 교회에 다닌다고 완벽하게 선하게 살수 있는 것은 아닙니다. 

단지, 하나님 앞에서는 죄인인 것을 인정하고 말씀대로 살려고 좀더 노력하는 사람들이 교회에 다니기 때문에, 그래도 예수님을 믿어야 합니다. 셋째, 하나님을 보지 못하기 때문에 믿지 못하겠다고 합니다. 그런데 하나님은 영적인 존재이기 때문에 사람의 눈으로 관찰할수 없습니다. 눈에 보지 못하지만 실제 존재하고 중요한 것들이 많습니다. 시간도 있지만 눈으로 보지 못하고, 사랑도 있지만 보지 못하고, 공기도 기계없이는 볼수 없지만 중요합니다. 하지만 공기가 움직이는 바람은 나뭇잎을 건드려서 흔들림이 보이듯이, 우리가 하나님을 믿기로 선택하면 하나님께서 살아계시고 활동하고 계신 것을 경험할 수 있습니다. 그렇기 때문에 눈에 볼수 없는 예수님도 믿어야 합니다. 다른 이유들도 있겠지만, 그래도 예수님을 믿어야 하는 이유는, 그래야 하나님의 자녀가 되어 구원받아 이 세상에서 천국처럼 살고, 죽어서도 하나님의 집인 천국에 갈수 있기 때문입니다.

 Rev. Ki-Dong Kim introduced the concept of "Sweet Potato Envangelism" to the Korean Church. One of many catchphrases he had for spreading good news is "Still, must believe in Jesus." When we ask those non-believers to believe in Jesus or ask them to come to church, those non-believers would come up with many excuses. Rev. Kim tells us to respond to them with a simple answer "Still, must believe in Jesus." Non-belivers come up with many excuses not to believe in Jesus. First, they say they don't understand the teachings of the Bible entirely. The Bible does have great lessons to be learned and stories about lives of people. However, the Bible also talks about supernatural miracles, healing, and the spiritual world- that is why people who are confined in a 3-dimensional world can never fully comprehend. We may never comprehend four and above multi-dimensional world, still, we must believe in Jesus. Second, some may say they are disappointed by Churchgoers behavior and actions so that they can't believe in Jesus. 

You can't live a perfect and flawless life because you go to the church. Only those, who acknowledge they are sinners and try a little more to live according to the Word of God, may attend the church. That is why, still, you need to believe in Jesus. Third, some may say, they can't see God that is why they can't believe. God is a spiritual being so we can't see him with our eyes. Many things are invisible but yet exist and are important in our lives. There is the time, but we don't see it with our own eyes. There is love but we can't see it with our own eyes. There is oxygen but we can't not see it with our bare eyes without the help of equipment. However, we may see the waves of leaves as the wind blows by the movement of the air. Just like that, we may experience God who exists and works, if we choose to believe in God. That is why, still, you must believe in Jesus. There may be many other reasons to believe, but the reason we must believe in Jesus is this- we become the children of God, we receive His salvation, we live in this world as if we are in Heaven, and we go to God's home Heaven after we die.
